How does our programme help schools?

Our employment-based school-centred initial teacher training (EBSCITT) programme has been designed with schools at the forefront. We’re part of one of the largest UK based education staffing organisations and understand the difficulties schools are experiencing in recruitment and retention. In fact, more than 50,000 new school teachers will be required by 2024 and we believe our innovative programme helps tackle some of the main barriers to entering the profession.

The schools we work with have already benefited from increased retention and recruitment, creating loyalty amongst the graduates that are enrolled on the programme and working in their schools. What’s more, it’s given schools and school leaders the option to shape their new teachers to match the ethos of the school.

For a small daily fee, schools benefit from a graduate working as a TA and training to be a teacher. After two years, they have a fully qualified teacher ready to enter their school, hitting the ground running.

Cost effective training

At a low daily rate fixed for the duration of 2 years, you get a TA, trainee teacher and qualified teacher all in one package.

Shape your own

The TAs will be working in your school full time for 2 years. This is an excellent opportunity to shape their teaching philosophy to match your school’s ethos.

Increase retention

Recruitment and retention can be resolved as TAs can be offered a role at the end of the programme. By then you know if they’re a suitable fit for your school.

Local community

Train a graduate from the local community and inspire pupils to achieve more. Fill your school with aspirational role models that your pupils can relate to.

FAQs

What does the selection process consist of?

Our selection process is a combination of rigorous background checks, including an enhanced DBS, references, Barred list and NCTL checks, in combination with a competency-based interview, and an English and Maths test.

Once settled in the school, the trainee teacher will undergo a further interview to be accepted on the PGCE course and undertake further skills tests.

What is the commitment from the school?

The school will commit to using the trainee teacher in line with our experience progression model to build their skills prior to the start of the PGCE year. During terms 4-6, the school will assign a mentor, and follow the process outlined.

We also expect the school to provide the trainee teacher access to any CPD provided to permanent members of staff.

The trainee teacher will also be required to work in another school for 6 weeks during year 2 of the programme. We ask that you host another trainee teacher from another school during this time.

What does the training consist of?

The training in year one introduces teaching and behaviour management skills.

In year two, they will follow an accredited PGCE programme. Training is provided via a blended mix of web-based technology, face to face and 1-1 coaching/mentoring and residential study weeks.

Who covers the cost of the training?

We do! The price you pay per day, covers all fees, from PGCE costs to paying the trainee teacher, and all associated costs.

What happens after the two year programme?

After successfully completing the two-year programme, the school has 3 options: 1. Release the NQT if there is no need in the school 2. Employ the trainee teacher on an FTC or a permanent contract with no introduction fee 3. Keep the teacher on a supply basis.

Is there an introduction fee at the end of the programme?

No, they are free for you to employ directly.

What happens if we decide the trainee teacher is unsuitable for our school?

If the trainee teacher is deemed unsuitable for your school or chooses to leave mid-programme then there is no extra charge. We will if required, find a suitable mid-programme replacement.
